Adventure Camp Counselors are responsible for planning, leading, and implementing adventure camp programs for children ages 9-14 in a wilderness camp setting.  They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group.  Each counselor is responsible for one cabin group. All YMCA employees are expected to model and teach the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Wage Range:
$324 - $336 per week

Key Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old at the start of employment.  Must have CPR and First Aid certifications prior to the starting date.  Experience in camping and outdoor recreation is preferred.  Knowledge and skill in working with youth and teens in a positive leadership role providing guidance and instructions.  Will be able to create a program that will feature outdoor living, citizenship training, and democracy.   
Additional Requirements:

This is a seasonal position from June 10th – August 10th.   Camp schedules will be Sunday - Friday.   Some full weekend shifts maybe required.  All camp staff receives a 24 hour time off period every 7 days. Adventure Camp counselors sleep in tents and cook meals outdoors.
Job requires ability to walk, stand, sit (including on the floor), bend, lean, and kneel in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must have ability to lead and participate in physically strenuous activities in a high altitude outdoor wilderness environment. Must have the ability to live on camp property in Cascade, Idaho during programming.
