Lifeguards are responsible for the facilitation of various waterfront activities and programs at YMCA Camp at Horsetheif Reservoir. Successful lifeguard will have the ability to create an inclusive and encouraging environment for all campers. All YMCA employees are expected to model and teach the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Starting Wage Range:
$300 - $324/week, plus 3.5% differential for all hours spent lifeguarding

Key Qualifications:

Must be 18 years old or older. Successful candidates will have the ability to handle unexpected circumstances, a good understanding of group management, good understanding of team work and communication, the ability to work with diverse groups of people, and the ability to instruct large groups and enforce procedures. Must be safety conscious and have the ability to enforce rules.   
Lifeguards must have lifeguard certification prior to start date. Please let us know if you need information regarding certification.
Additional Requirements:

This is a seasonal position, June 5th – August 10th.   Camp schedules will be Sunday-Friday.  Some full weekend shifts maybe required.  Lifeguards and program staff will primarily be responsible for their program area, but will live in cabins with campers.  All camp staff receives a 24 hour time off period every 7 days.   
Job requires ability to walk, stand, sit (including on the floor), bend, lean, and kneel in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must have ability to lead and participate in physically strenuous activities in a high altitude outdoor wilderness environment.
