Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach
The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) offered by the Treasure Valley Family YMCA is an evidence based program developed to prevent or delay the development of diabetes among individuals with prediabetes or at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coaches facilitate delivery of the program, provide support and guidance to participants, and maintain fidelity to the program.  DPP Lifestyle Coaches facilitate 1 hour sessions that cover healthy eating, physical activity, and behavior modification to help participants meet their health goals.  DPP is offered in Boise, Meridian, Caldwell, and Twin Falls.

Key Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old. Must have current CPR certification or ability to obtain certification within 45 days of hire.  Must attend and pass a two-day in-person Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Coach training December 10th-11th and participate in subsequent trainings on HIPAA and athenaNet. Must be able to clear the Medicare Exclusions list. Must have the ability to weigh and track weight of participants, facilitate content of curriculum, follow up with participants, and keep accurate records of each participant’s progress. Successful candidates will have the ability to create a safe, judgement-free, and encouraging environment that is friendly and non-competitive for participants.
Physical Requirements:
Position may require bending, leaning, and kneeling.
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency. Ability to walk and/or stand for periods of time. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs.
Schedule Requirements:
This is a part-time position. Schedule will vary depending on participant interest.
