Program Coordinator – Youth in Government – West Boise
The YMCA Youth In Government program is a statewide program serving over 300 high school students across the state of Idaho. This program teaches students the principles and methods of our republic form of government.  Through first-hand experience, students discover how they can actively make changes for the betterment of our state.  Students receive training in public debate, preparation of legislative materials, and an understanding of our legislative and judicial processes.
The program consists of monthly high school delegation meetings, three regional conferences, one annual State Session, one national Youth Governor’s conference, and one Conference on National Affairs.

The Youth in Government Coordinator is responsible for working with students, high school advisors, judges, and justices in preparation for each session. This includes planning and facilitating Regional and State conferences, scheduling conference speakers and presenters, organizing and facilitating monthly committee meetings, and working with our fund development team to secure and manage grant funding. In addition to operation of the Youth and Government program, the coordinator will develop and facilitate additional teen/tween leadership programming and support overall operations of the Youth Department.
